4 Pin on a Single End - 22 Watt Germicidal Water Treatment Bulb

The Neptune WTA 05-0294-1 Replacement UVC Light Bulb is a four-pin on single end 22 Watt germicidal water treatment bulb that has a total length of 17.72" and an arc length of 14.57".

This UV-C bulb is made out of ceramic and is capable of protecting you from waterborne bacteria, molds, viruses, and other pathogenic microorganisms such as giardia and cryptosporidium. This method is known to be a cost-effective way of protecting water from contaminants. With an intensity of 253.7 nm, the UV light emitted by the light bulb kills DNA and other microorganisms in water. When water is exposed to a UV light source it renders the microbes and bacteria present in water sterile. Researchers are of the opinion that UV rays are effective to destroy 99.99% of germs in water that may possibly cause harmful bacteria and microorganisms such as organisms causing gastroenteritis, typhoid, influenza virus, Vibrio cholera, and hepatitis virus strains. Since UV filters do not introduce chemicals into the water and are a purely physical state, it is a far better option than chlorination and its by-products. Experts are of the opinion that it is better to replace the UV light bulb annually though it may continue to emit light for efficiency.

We offer two versions of this UV-C bulb; a good quality foreign-made generic replacement unit and an ultra-high quality US-made unit. Both lights are guaranteed to be 100% compatible with the Neptune WTA 05-0294-1.

This bulb is available with a shatterproof coating that in case of damage keeps the lamp glass from falling into the unit where is installed. This results in an easy way to dispose of glass if it shatters. You can select this shatterproof option above.

Do I need shatterproof coating?

Although shatterproof coating can lower the intensity of the UV-C bulb by as much as 15%, it is recommended for applications in which it is crucial to avoid potential glass breakage at all costs. These applications include but are not limited to food processing and medical institutions. However, if glass breakage would be inconvenient but not catastrophic, skipping the costly shatterproof coating is quite alright. After all, we do not use shatterproof coating with our glasses and plates at home.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Where are these bulbs manufactured?

We have UVC bulbs from China and from the US. If you need a particular country of origin, please let us know and it's likely we can accomodate your request. Sometimes this affects the price but other times it does not. I believe this particular bulb in stock is from China so a US made one may take a few extra days.
