Our CureUV brand Replacement UVC Light Bulb for American Ultraviolet GML325 is a 26-watt  single-pin double-ended UV bulb. The UVC bulb measures 23.2 inches and can last up to 10,000 hours. This UVC light bulb usually has up to 12 months of life after which we recommend replacing it for optimal effectiveness.  With a peak output of 253.7nm, the UVC replacement light bulb helps destroy 99.9% of germs in water to give you safe water at all times. The replacement bulb is made using ceramic as the base material and comes in a non-ozone glass type. 

This process of water purification is purely physical and does not alter the chemistry, pH, or taste of water. It is also an environment-friendly option and is better than chemicals and their bi-products. Many people believe that the system enables a safe solution against microorganisms such as giardia and cryptosporidium that are considered to be chlorine-resistant. The UV light bulb emits a short wavelength of 253.7 nm and this energy reacts photo-chemically with the genetics of the microorganisms. The replacement bulb works with germicidal OEM water disinfection filters, UV sanitizers, and Ultraviolet water purifiers. 

This bulb is available with a shatterproof coating that in case of damage keeps the lamp glass from falling into the unit where it is installed. This results in an easy way to dispose of glass if it shatters. You can select this shatterproof option above.

Do I need shatterproof coating?

Although shatterproof coating can lower the intensity of the UV-C bulb by as much as 15%, it is recommended for applications in which it is crucial to avoid potential glass breakage at all costs. These applications include but are not limited to food processing and medical institutions. However, if glass breakage would be inconvenient but not catastrophic, skipping the costly shatterproof coating is quite alright. After all, we do not use shatterproof coating with our glasses and plates at home.
