The Samkun Century - JSA-1000 UV Light Bulb For Germicidal Water Treatment is a guaranteed water treatment bulb that has a wattage of 21 Watts and a wavelength range of 254nm. This wavelength acts on the genetics of the microorganisms and renders them harmless. The water treatment bulb has ceramic as its base material and an average lifespan of 10,000 hours. The germicidal water treatment bulb has a length of 17.17" and a four-pin on a single end base. It is compatible with germicidal OEM Water sterilization filters, UV sanitizers, and water purifiers.
The lamp makes use of UVC light to inactivate bacteria, molds, virus,es and protozoa present in water. Researchers are of the opinion that UV water purification provides a safe solution as this method of sterilization is a purely physical process and does not alter the pH, chemistry or taste of water. This method is both economic and environmental friendly and is a much better option for chemicals and their bi-products. People are of the opinion that this system provides a safe solution against microorganisms such as giardia and cryptosporidium, which are resistant to chlorine disinfection.

Do I need shatterproof coating?
Although shatterproof coating can lower the intensity of the UV-C bulb by as much as 15%, it is recommended for applications in which it is crucial to avoid potential glass breakage at all costs. These applications include but are not limited to food processing and medical institutions. However, if glass breakage would be inconvenient but not catastrophic, skipping the costly shatterproof coating is quite alright. After all, we do not use shatterproof coating with our glasses and plates at home.
