The Hoenle QSO3 Inline Sensor is a robust UV monitoring solution designed for reliable, continuous measurement of medium-pressure UV lamps and UV LEDs in demanding industrial environments.
High UV intensity and elevated temperatures can make stable UV measurement challenging. The QSO3 addresses these conditions with carefully selected materials and a specialized quartz rod system, providing a durable and practical solution for online UV monitoring.
The QSO3 is designed as a relative measuring device because UV readings are strongly influenced by the sensor's mounting position. Under reference conditions, the reading is set to 100% with a new lamp, reflector, or comparable setup. The sensor can then continuously monitor changes in UV output during operation.
Its extended stainless steel protection tube allows the sensor to be installed close to the UV source, including at the edges of a reflector. Air purging is also available to help protect the measuring area in demanding operating environments.
CureUV is an authorized Hoenle distributor, providing professional UV measurement and process monitoring solutions for industrial applications.

Relative UV Measurement
Unlike an absolute UV measuring instrument, the QSO3 is designed as a relative measuring device. The initial reference condition is set to 100%, typically using a new lamp, reflector, or comparable setup.
The sensor can then monitor changes in UV output over time. This makes the QSO3 particularly useful for identifying changes in lamp performance and maintaining consistent UV process conditions.
High-Temperature and High-Intensity Operation
The QSO3 is designed for demanding environments where both high UV intensity and elevated temperatures can affect measurement stability.
The sensor features a specialized quartz rod system and a stainless steel protection tube that allows the measuring point to be positioned close to the UV source. The quartz rod at the measuring window can withstand temperatures of approximately 572°F (300°C), while the end of the stainless steel tube is rated for continuous operation up to 572°F (300°C).
Machine Integration
The QSO3 provides a 0–10 V DC output signal proportional to UV irradiance, allowing the sensor to be integrated into machine control and process monitoring systems.
Adjustable amplification factors of 1, 10, 100, and 1,000, with an additional 0.3 combination setting, allow the sensor to be adapted to different UV intensity levels.
Air Purging
The QSO3 includes an air purging option through a 1/8 in connection with a maximum pressure of 0.5 bar. This can be used to help protect the measuring area in demanding industrial environments.
Reliable Continuous UV Monitoring
Continuous UV monitoring can help detect changes in UV output during production and support stable process conditions. By monitoring relative UV intensity directly at the UV source, the Hoenle QSO3 provides a practical solution for applications where consistent UV performance is critical.
