The Polaris Scientific GL10SE4P Replacement Germicidal Light is 100% Compatible with Polaris Model UV-1C. The 10 watts UV bulb has a four-pin on a single end base. With ceramic as its base material, the germicidal water treatment bulb has a wavelength range of 254nm. The light bulb has a length of 8.35 inches and an average lifespan of 10,000 hours.

This method of water treatment requires no handling of chemicals and does not need any specialized storage. There is no change in odor, taste, pH, or the chemistry of water, which is why this is a preferred method of treatment for chemicals and their byproducts.  It is established that UV light at the wavelength of 254nm can kill harmful microorganisms such as E.coli, giardia, and cryptosporidium that can cause harm.

The germicidal water treatment bulb comes with a shatterproof coating that protects the lamp during damage. The coating also keeps the lamp glass from falling into the unit. This results in easy disposal of glass if it shatters and renders it easy to operate the system. The UV lamp starts instantly and makes use of a coil filament that operates hot.
