The CureUV HVAC UVC Air Purifier is designed to help reduce microorganisms within HVAC systems using germicidal UV-C light. Installed directly into the air duct or plenum, the system continuously exposes circulating air and HVAC components to UV-C energy without requiring chemical disinfectants.

Available in 36W single-lamp and 72W dual-lamp (2 × 36W) configurations, the system provides a compact and economical UV-C solution for residential and commercial HVAC applications.

Here at CureUV, we recognize the need for quality air. That's why we provide a wide range of air purification products for buildings and homes. From units that can be installed into your HVAC system to stand-alone air purifiers, CureUV offers solutions for a variety of indoor air treatment applications.

UV-C Treatment Inside Your HVAC System

The HVAC UVC Air Purifier installs directly into the HVAC duct or plenum, positioning the germicidal lamps within the airflow. The UV-C lamps continuously irradiate the surrounding air and HVAC surfaces to help reduce bacteria, mold, viruses, and other UV-sensitive microorganisms.

The system is available in two configurations:

  • 36W: Single 36W UV-C lamp
  • 72W: Dual 36W UV-C lamps (2 × 36W)

The dual-lamp configuration provides increased UV-C coverage within the HVAC system and is particularly useful where greater treatment coverage is desired.

Technical Specifications

Dimensions:

  • Mounting Plate: 7.5" L x 7.5" W
  • Base Enclosure: 5.5" L x 5.5" W
  • Base Depth: 2"

Important: The 72W configuration requires both lamps to be correctly installed for proper operation.

UV-C is harmful to eyes and skin. Never look directly at an operating UV-C lamp or expose skin to UV-C radiation. Disconnect power before installation, inspection, or servicing.

Easy HVAC Installation

The system is designed for installation directly into the HVAC duct or plenum. Depending on the HVAC configuration, the UV-C unit may be installed downstream from the air-conditioning coil in the supply-air plenum or upstream from the air filter in the return-air plenum.

For best performance, position the lamp where it can effectively irradiate the HVAC coil and surrounding airflow. The manufacturer's instructions recommend maintaining at least 20 inches of separation from the air filter and avoiding installation directly next to a return-air register grille.

For the dual-lamp 72W configuration, two mounting openings are required. When multiple lamps are installed, maintain at least 4 inches of spacing between lamps.

Installation Instructions - UVC HVAC Air Purifier

36W or 72W Configuration

Choose the configuration that best matches the HVAC installation. The 36W model uses one UV-C lamp for a simple single-lamp installation, while the 72W model uses two 36W UV-C lamps to provide greater UV-C coverage within the duct or around the HVAC coil.

UVC Output (measured on EIT UV Power Puck II)

  • @ 1": 7 mW/cm²
  • @ 5": 2.6 mW/cm²
  • @ 10": 1.1 mW/cm²

UV-C irradiance varies with lamp configuration, operating conditions, lamp age, distance, airflow, duct geometry, and installation. The measurements above should be considered reference measurements for the tested configuration rather than guaranteed output throughout an HVAC system.

Lamp Life & Maintenance

The supplied documentation specifies an approximate 9,000-hour lamp life. UV-C output gradually decreases with operating time, so lamps should be replaced according to their recommended service interval even if they continue to visibly illuminate.

The electronic ballast is rated for a service life of over 30,000 hours under normal operating conditions.

When installing or replacing a lamp, avoid touching the glass with bare hands. Oils from the skin can leave residue on the lamp surface and may shorten lamp life. Use clean gloves when handling the lamp. If the glass is accidentally touched, clean the affected area with isopropyl alcohol before operation.

Installation Safety

Do not energize or test the UV-C lamps until installation is complete. Disconnect electrical power before servicing the unit or replacing lamps. The UV-C lamps are intended to operate enclosed within the HVAC duct or plenum and should never be operated where people can be directly exposed to the UV-C radiation.

Safety Information:

Never expose eyes or skin to UV-C light from any source. Direct exposure to UV-C radiation may cause serious eye injury or skin damage. This unit must only be operated inside a sealed HVAC duct system.

WARNING: For indoor use only. Install this unit only inside enclosed air ducts within a home or building. Do not install in exposed or ventilated openings, and do not use in HVAC systems located outside the structure.
