Unlike other UVC systems available, these are designed for use in busy occupied spaces, helping reduce the spread of harmful bacteria, mold spores and viruses. Using convection currents and air circulation present in the occupied space, these systems silently irradiate airborne microorganisms without the need for fans or blowers.

The concept is quite simple: the ultraviolet rays are projected across the upper room air, and convection and normal airflow carry airborne microorganisms into the path of the light, where they are exposed to UV-C energy. As these systems run continuously, the air within the space is continually circulated through the upper-room UV-C treatment zone.

The Hygeaire® fixtures are designed for indirect air disinfection in occupied spaces and should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor. They feature polished interior surfaces designed to maximize UV intensity and use STER-L-RAY® UV lamps.
