This unit is exactly as it was described. I wanted a couple units for my business and decided to try this model. This unit is very powerful and will get the job done!
I think this unit is pretty awesome. It tests effective against multiple testers I have and price appears quite outstanding (I wish other uv products were as reasonable such as water tank purification!).
I can say this much from using the testers:
-The amount of side bleed of uvc is real. I had a quality uvc tester off to the side of where I was using it and it most certainly was picking up uvc (so be aware and use the goggles). Side bleed (sort of like just the aspect of light not going straight down) intensity was very low though naturally, but I was surprised that it picked it up at all haha.
I was surprised that with (what appears to be a decent amount of power) I have to be pretty close to a tester to test for good intensity (not just the presence of uvc but the intensity great enough for shortlength to be germicidal). So in essence don’t think you can be 15 inches away for something for it to be effective - at least that was my take)
Also, personally I don’t mind if a uvc light generates ozone. Ozone is a quality germicide and being afraid of ozone is ridiculous unless you’re stuffed into a closed area for a protracted time period. This device claims it makes no ozone. I can’t tell if that’s true or not but I know when I use it, it creates a distinct smell that reminds me of ozone generation. Again personally I’m perfectly happy if it does. The smell may just be generated by some of the electronics perhaps? Again though either way I don’t mind.
I bought it with replacement bulbs and for the price I’ll probably pic up another since it appears to be a truly viable product and I think from a cost to function ratio there probably isn’t a competitor to this in a handheld device (although lastly, this thing is BIG hahaha).
I am REALLY happy I found cureuv and this device.
I wrote a scathing review before which I will take back, as it turns out it was an order error, the owner called me personally explained the wrong bulbs were sent. He was polite wanted to fix the issue right away including shipping issues. To me this is a person who deserves five stars, please ignore my early post. They corrected the situation and everything works great
This is super powerful. I could only find like 4 watt wands online but this is 18 watts! Kill germs within seconds. Great quality product. Very sturdy. Very bright. Has UV light tubes instead of LED. LED is half as powerful as using actual light tubes.
Got for my dad for Christmas as he’s almost a germaphobe, and he absolutely loves it.

where is this made?
Hello, thanks for the question. The handheld base and ballast are made in China. We then modify the base and some electrical components and add a few components (including the bulbs) in Delray Beach, Florida. The bulbs are made in Poland generally speaking but there are a few versions that have Asian bulbs as well. Hope this is helpful.

How long does the light have to make contact with the surface in order to kill the covid virus?

Thank you for reaching out....the 18W Handheld once the light makes contact with the surface it should only take about 5-10min to kill any bacteria or Viruses (including COVID). Even then it shouldn't take that long. It also depends on how far you are to what your are trying to sterilize. The closer you are to the surface the quicker the sterilization process is.
